Howie Nestel, the owner of Howie Nestel Motivation, discusses with Marc the functions that actions and words play for effective business communication.
Howie:
They say advice is worth what you pay for it. So if you pay nothing, it's worth nothing. But it's more of a conversation. And if we can learn from each other.
Marc:
Well certainly be worth nothing if people don't take action on it, right?
Howie:
That's a biggie right there. A lot of people, they just don't do the actual work.
Marc:
Well, that conversation you and I had over Mexican breakfast, some tacos, you know, it was like you're giving out insight and I'm like, I pulled out my iPad and started taking some notes and implemented it straight away. It's like, I think that's important: action, right? It's not just words, but it's action behind it.
Howie:
Yeah. And I know you like numbers and percentages, but if I had to put a number to it, I would, 90 to 95% of people will take listen to something, and maybe 5 or 10% will actually implement it and do something about it.
Marc:
Well, it's timing sometimes, right? A lot of people are overwhelmed by what they're doing. They just don't have the mental energy or the stamina to actually implement something they know would be really, really good for business.
Howie:
That's for sure.
