Business Spotlight: Marco Flores, From a Youngster Who Loved Numbers to Becoming a CPA

Marco Flores tells how he has always been interested in numbers, which led him to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and establish his own business called MFCPA.

So how did you get started with the CPA? So what's that all about? Are you really a numbers guy? What happened here?

Yeah, so when I was a kid I was really just into numbers, statistics, all that kind of thing. And of course, when you go through school, they don't really teach you about accounting, right? No middle school, high school even. They don't really teach it. So I didn't even know what it was until I got to college. I changed my major probably five or six times. I want to be actually a physical therapist, more in line with what is in the athletic world, something like that. And then I got into business and then I fell into accounting.

I actually took a tax class and I thought to myself as I was looking out around the room, everyone, I was not really into it. It's, I want to get my accounting degree so I have to take this class. But people weren't really interested in taxes that much was, I saw it as an opportunity with all these people who I'm gonna be graduating with.

Want to go down a different path and this could be good for me. I don't know. I just like numbers. The way they fit together and the way that there's really no gray area. One, there's a one, and a two is a two.
